We are pleased to share our 2024 Annual Report. The document highlights our key actions and achievements from the past year, as we continued our mission to welcome and facilitate the presence of the European institutions and international organisations in the capital of Europe.

2024 was a major electoral year for Brussels, with elections at local, regional, national and European levels. This meant a renewal of leadership among our EU institutional partners, while the Brussels-Capital Region entered an unprecedented period of political deadlock. The elections also created additional tasks for the Brussels Commissioner for Europe and his team. We ran campaigns to inform International Brusselers about their electoral rights here in Belgium, and we renewed our contacts with the EU institutional leadership after the European elections.

Meanwhile, the work of our Institutional Liaison Unit and Expat Welcome Desk (EWD) continued unabated. The EWD responded to more queries than ever before, seeing a 60% increase in caseload since 2022! And we continued to serve as a supportive go-between for the ongoing redevelopment of Schuman Roundabout, notably working with the Council of the EU to manage the impact of the works in front of their buildings.

Working hand in hand with the Brussels government, we are proud to support the European institutions and the international community here in the heart of Europe. 2024 was packed with initiatives that helped strengthen Brussels in its role as a unique hub of international governance. Our office was always there, either behind the scenes or taking centre stage. Dive into the report to learn more!
