Non EU citizens who are family members of an EU or non EU citizen, wishing to work in Belgium are subjected to specific rules.
1. Non EU citizen family members of an EU citizen
Family members of an EU citizen holders of a residence permit called « F card or F+ card » are exempted from the work permit obligation.
Family members of an EU citizen in the process of a family reunification procedure holders of an Appendix 19 ter and an Orange Card are exempt from the work permit obligation .
2. Non EU citizen family members of a Non EU citizen
Based on the articles 18,1° or 10,8° of the Royal Decreet of 02/09/2018, a non EU family member of a Single Permit holder is authorized to work, from the moment of the reception of his/her residence document or registration certificate: the commune will add the mention « job market : unlimited » or « marché du travail : illimité » to the same document.
