CAR SHARING

With Cambio, you can rent a car (petrol or diesel) per hour, for a full day or for longer periods. You must reserve beforehand and from a specific car parking spot. You pay only the kilometres you drive. This is the ideal solution for anyone who only needs a car every once in a while. Cambio has stations in all Brussels municipalities but also outside of Brussels.

Another car sharing service is Zen Car. This company has only electric cars and is for the time being only active in the Brussels-Capital Region. They are available for €9 per hour. However, you have to recharge the vehicle at Blue Corner charging points, where the process takes between 6 and 9 hours. Like Cambio, you are required to return the Zen Car to a specific station.

Free floating allows you to rent a car and leave it anywhere (not at a specific place).

  • Drive Now: you can rent a car exactly when you need it for 33 to 36 cents/minute. You have the choice of 6 models of BMW and Mini put on the road by the company. When you have arrived at your destination, you simply leave the car in the nearest DriveNow zone.

  • Poppy: from 33 cents/minute (all taxes inc.), you can use an electric vehicle for as long as you wish. You are just required to leave the vehicle in the Poppy zone in Brussels.
This involves the sharing of the same car by several persons making the same journey.

  • Carpoolthe leading Belgian ride-sharing community, enables you to travel within Belgium and throughout Europe. Are you a driver? Search the Carpool database for one or more passengers to share your journey to work and your travel expenses. Are you a passenger? Consult the database to find a driver!

  • Blablacar: one of the world leaders in ride-sharing with more than 36 million users worldwide. The system has now been available in Belgium for 3 years.

  • Schoolpool: another interesting Taxistop service. You can agree with other parents to take turns driving the children to school.

  • VAP: offers a carpooling system in the shape of organised hitchhiking between neighbours for short distances in and around the municipality, or to go to a train or underground station or bus stop. The Brussels-Capital Region has VAP branches in Watermael-Boitsfort, Auderghem and near the ULB (Ixelles).
